CLAREMONT, CA - The Caltech track and field teams continued SCIAC meets on Saturday afternoon at the ClaremontMuddScripps colleges.
The Beaver women nearly pulled out a dual meet win against new league foe Chapman but fell by one point in the final tally.
One week after setting the school heptathlon record, Sarah Wright had another stellar meet. The senior won the javelin competition with a toss of 118"7" which was over 11 feet better than her nearest competitor. She ran the 100 meter dash in 13.27 which is the second best time in Caltech history. She also set personal best times in the 200 meter dash (27.25) and 100 meter high hurdles (15.86).
Paige Logan continued her impressive throws during the shot put competition. The junior won the event with a throw of 39' 5 1/4" which topped Wright's effort of 30' 5 1/2". Logan also posted the afternoon's top throws in the hammer (138'3") and discus (115'3"). Her hammer throw topped her personal best by almost 13 feet in re-setting her own school record.
During the 3000 meter steeplechase Juliette Becker moved to third in the school's top 10 list with a time of 12:20.6
In the men's meet Eric Martin recorded a top five finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.48. Martin's time was just 0.61 seconds away from the top finisher.
Brice Nzeukou finished third in the high jump event by clearing 5'10 3/4". William Hoza continued his effort in the pole vault with a third place finish (12' 4 1/2").
