La VERNE, CA – The Beavers track and field team closed out regular season SCIAC action with a three-way meet against La Verne and ClaremontMuddScripps
Caltech's final league competition is at the season ending conference championships at Occidental April 26-27.
Eric Martin continued his solid season in the middle and long distance races. The sophomore won the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:05.46 as he nudged out Quinn Chasen from ClaremontMuddScripps by .08. The time is the 10th fastest time in Caltech history as he became just the fourth Beaver runner to post a sub-4:06 time in the last 40 years.
Morgan Hill put himself into the Caltech top 10 during the hammer throw. The first-year posted a personal best throw of 108'4" which is the ninth best mark in school history. He is the third person this millennium to post a mark better than 108 feet.
During the women's portion of the meet Stephanie Reynolds improved her 1500 meter time of over five seconds. Reynolds crossed the finish line in 4:54.51 which is the third best time ever at Caltech.
Bridget Connor set a personal best mark in the pole vault by clearing 7' 6 1/2" which also ties her for the ninth best mark ever at Caltech.
The shot put event saw two Caltech student-athletes perform well. Paige Logan won the event with a throw of 38' 8 3/4" while Sarah Wright set a personal best with a mark of 31'10".
