At the season ending SCIAC track and field championships this weekend, Caltech is looking for a handful of student-athlete to make an impact.
During the men’s meet Eric Martin will participate in the 1500 meter race and has the potential to post a top three finish. His best time of 4:01.64 is clumped together with seven other individuals that is 11 seconds away from the top time of 3:50.92.
William Hoza has cleared 13-feet in the pole vault and his current personal best (13’ 1 1/2") is the eighth best height in the league.
Brice Nzeukou’s season best mark of 5’ 10 1/2" in the high jump is the seventh best mark in the SCIAC. In his final league competition, Nzeukou will look to clear six-feet and score points.
Ben Grabowski javelin throw of 158’11” is the ninth best and he has the potential to record a farther distance.
Paige Logan has the second best shot put throw in the league this year with a toss of 40’ 3/4" and will look to pass Losa Akauloa top mark of 43’ 11 3/4". Logan has the fourth best throw in discus (122’8”) and is fifth in the hammer (138’3”).
Sarah Wright is looking to score points in a variety of events. The senior will look to break five-feet in the high jump for the first time which could place her among the top five this weekend. In the javelin her top throw of 127’7” is the second best in the conference. On the track her time of 15.86 in the 100 meter hurdles is the SCIAC fifth best mark in 2013.
Stephanie Reynolds has continually improved her time in the 1500 meter race. Her top time of 4:52.50 is the ninth best in the league. Her time is the second fastest in school history. Juliette Becker is looking to score points for the Beavers in the 3000 meter steeplechase race. In just her first year in the event, her top time of 12:20.84 in the ninth best mark in the conference.
The meet is being held at Occidental and begins at Noon on Friday then 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
