CLAREMONT, CA – On Saturday afternoon a group from the track & field team competed in the 18th Rossi Relays hosted by ClaremontMuddScripps.
The competition, one of the largest open meets in southern California, featured well over 500 competitors from NCAA and NAIA schools from all divisions. The event also allowed unattached individuals.
In the 3000 meter race Juliette Becker ran a 12:12.36 during the women's race while Juan Adame participated in the men's race where he crossed the finish line in 9:38.15. Michael Zhang competedas well in the nearly two mile race where he clipped the tape in 9:46.56.
Victor Duan ran the 100-meter dash in 12.16. The junior was the only Caltech participant in an individual sprint race.
In the women's shot put Paige Logan finished sixth, and second among NCAA Division III competitors, with a throw of 36'11". On the men's side Morgan Hill continued to craft his skill in the event. His best throw of the day was 31'10".
The two also competed in the hammer throw. Logan's top throw was 134'8" which put her ninth among the competitors. Hill nearly placed in the top 10 with his best throw of 122'3".
Logan rounded out her afternoon in the discus competition. Her top throw of 113'10" placed the senior 12th in the 31-person field.
Caltech's first official NCAA meet is on March 8 when they travel to Pomona-Pitzer for a SCIAC meet with Redlands, Whittier and Chapman.
