FULLERTON, CA – Amidst the warm temps and sun splashed track, the Beavers competed at the Benny Brown Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton.
There was no overall team scoring in a meet that featured 30-plus schools from NCAA, NAIA and the Junior College ranks.
Paige Logan posted a fifth-place finish in the shot put event. The seniors top throw of 38' 1 1/2" was the best throw by a non-NCAA Division I competitor. In the discus throw she nearly cracked the top 10 as she uncorked a top throw of 109' 11" in the 31-person field.
Anup Kishore improved on his personal best mark in the triple jump. One week removed from his best tally, Kishore recorded a leap of 39' 1/2" to top his best mark by over a foot.
Morgan Hill continued to improve in the hammer throw. The sophomore unleashed a top throw of 121'3" which is his best effort in 2014. William Hoza also put up his best effort of the season in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 12' 3 1/2".
Ben Grabowski continued to round into form during his second meet of the season as he notched a top throw of 147'11" in the javelin competition. First-year Jordan Bonilla is in a similar spot since joining the team after swimming season as he recorded a top throw of 108'7".
Caltech's next meet is their second SCIAC competition when they travel to Occidental on March 29.
