LOS ANGELES – A week after their all-conference performances at the SCIAC Championships, Paige Logan and Eric Martin competed against a stacked field at the Occidental Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The competitors were from all NCAA Divisions, NAIA Schools as well as unattached athletes. All told there were approximately 1,000 individuals competing.
Logan tested her abilities in the shot put and hammer throws. Her best effort in the shot put came on her third of four attempts with a toss of 38' 9 1/2". During the hammer throw she placed second among all NCAA Division III competitors (out of seven) when she recorded a throw of 138'2" on her second of four throws.
The 800 meter race featured eight heats as 78 athletes competed in the half-mile event. Martin ran the second fastest time of his career as he crossed the finish line in 1:54.51. It was the fourth best time out from the nine individual who hail from an NCAA Division III school.
Next week a handful of Beaver athletes will travel to the Redlands last chance meet on Thursday and Friday.
