Dahl Sets New Caltech Mark; Cal Lutheran Knocks Off Beavers

PASADENA, Calif. – Krissy Dahl set the Caltech career blocks record in Cal Lutheran's 72-40 win over the Beavers on Thursday night in a SCIAC women's basketball match-up at the Braun Athletic Center.

Just past the midway point of the second half Dahl recorded her 138th career block which passed Lindsay King's mark of 137 set between the 2005-2008 seasons. The junior also hold the school record for most blocks in a game (7) and season (66).

Cal Lutheran (8-7, 2-2) used a three-point barrage in the first half to build their lead. The visitors converted seven of their first 10 shots from behind the arc in constructing a 22-9 lead with 9:44 left in the half. The Regals methodically built their lead to as large as 24 points before eventually heading into the locker room with a 38-16 lead.

Marlyn Moore nailed a three-pointer on the Beavers (0-15, 0-4) first possession of the second half to cut their deficit to 19 points. However that was as close as the home squad got the rest of the evening.

Erin Hoops and Moore each scored a team high nine points to pace the Caltech offense. Rachel Hess chipped a team high and career best eight rebounds.

For the Regals, Chelsey Hastigan scored a team high 17 points, all of which came in the first half, on the strength of a 5-for-10 shooting effort from behind the arc. Eric Whitley came off the bench to record a 10-point night.
