CLAREMONT, Calif. – Coming off a nine-day break from the Christmas holiday, the Caltech women's basketball team took part in the CMS/Caltech holiday classic played at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
All Tournament Honors -- For her efforts during the event, senior Teri Juarez was named to the all-tournament team. Juarez scored 15 points while grabbing 17 rebounds during the event. She played 71 of a possible 80 minutes. The rest of the all tournament team:

Alverno 107, Caltech 34
Alverno placed seven different players in double figures in their victory on Thursday afternoon. The Alverno offense in the first half was clicking both inside and outside in building a 55-18 edge at intermission.
The Inferno went 10-for-19 (52.6 percent) from behind the arc in the opening session. Alverno grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the first frame to help them post a 17-0 advantage in second chance points.
The Inferno continued to build on their lead with a solid shooting effort in the final 20 minutes. Alverno converted on 24 of their 47 (51.1 percent) in the second frame in taking the victory.
The duo of Hannah Galstad and Kristen Speerschneider each posted a team best 16 points to pace the Alverno offense. Jamie Hoernke added a double-double with a 13-point, 11-rebound effort.
Nebraska Wesleyan 91, Caltech 16
Nebraska Wesleyan scored on seven of their first eight possessions and forced Caltech into turnovers on four of their first eight and never looked back in claiming the victory.
The Praire Wolves converted on exactly half of their 78 field goal attempts. They also posted a plus-28 rebounding edge.
Three different Prairie Wolves scored in double figures, led by Mallory Shanahan's and Shea Rasmussen's 14-point efforts. Payton Everett contributed 13 points.
Marlyn Moore and Rachel Hess each scored a team best five points for Caltech. Teri Juarez grabbed a game high 10 rebounds while playing 39 minutes.
