PASADENA, Calif. – Under the guidance of ninth year head coach Sandra Marbut, the Caltech women's basketball program has announced their 25-game schedule for the 2011-2012 season.
The season starts with a four-game home stand beginning on Saturday, Nov. 19 against Pacific (Ore.) University at 4:00 p.m. For the first time in 11 years MIT will make a visit to Pasadena for a Nov. 25 contest slated for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off with the Beavers. The early season home schedule wraps up with games against Chapman (Dec. 3, 6:00 p.m.) and Arizona Christian (Dec. 12, 6:00 p.m.)
Caltech makes a swing up the California coast with three games in the central region of the state in mid-December. The Beavers will participate at the UC Santa Cruz classic with games against the Banana Slugs (Dec. 15, 6:00 p.m.) and Texas Lutheran (Dec. 16, 6:00 p.m.). The three-game road swing concludes with a game on Dec. 18 against Pacific Union at 2:00 p.m.
The final home game of the 2011 portion of the schedule is Dec. 20 at Noon against Earlham. After a nine-day hiatus for the Christmas holiday, the Beavers compete in the Caltech/CMS Winter Classic against Alverno (Dec. 29, 1:00 p.m.) and Nebraska Wesleyan (Dec. 30, 1:00 p.m.). Both games of the winter classic will be hosted by CMS.
Caltech's final non-conference game of the season is on Jan. 2 when the Beaver tangle with Rutgers University-Camden at 7:30 p.m.
The Beavers SCIAC schedule starts on Thursday, Jan. 5 against defending conference champion Occidental. Caltech's home conference schedule begins two days later when they host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Thursday, Saturday conference schedules continues through the rest of January and until Saturday, Feb. 18 when Caltech travels to La Verne for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off as the season comes to a close.
Caltech's home SCIAC schedule is highlighted by Pink Zone Night on Feb. 9 against Pomona-Pitzer (5:00 p.m.) which is designed to promote breast cancer awareness. The last home game of the year and senior night will be on Feb. 11 when the Beavers host Cal Lutheran for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
