ORANGE, Calif. (Jan. 19, 2016) – Senior Stephanie Wong (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) and junior Michelle Wong (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) hit a trio of three-pointers apiece over a combined 14 attempts as Caltech women's basketball faced Chapman University on the road Tuesday night.
Michelle spread her damage across the first three quarters, hitting one trey in each, while Stephanie shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the field, including two triples, for eight points in the fourth quarter. The pair finished with 11 points each as Michelle also led the team with four assists and two steals. Junior Kate Lewis (San Antonio, Texas / Ronald Reagan) and freshman Elizabeth Eiden (White Plains, N.Y. / Holy Child) each grabbed seven rebounds, with Eiden adding two blocks.
The Panthers built up a quick 11-0 lead in the first three minutes and led by 20 at halftime. A 24-7 edge in the third quarter put the game out of reach, although the Beavers did manage to match the hosts point-for-point in the fourth quarter. Chapman improves to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in the SCIAC while Caltech drops to 2-13 (0-6).
