PASADENA (Feb. 14, 2018) – Junior guard Nika Haleftiras (San Diego, Calif. / Our Lady of Peace) played all 40 minutes and her high energy led to a big spurt down the stretch for the Caltech women's basketball team against visiting California Lutheran University on Valentine's Day.
The junior turned things on in the fourth quarter where she went 5-for-7 from the field with two three-pointers. She ended her night with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal while also shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. All five of her rebounds came on the defensive end. Of her team's 15 fourth quarter points, Haleftiras had 12 of them and has been a model of consistency for the women's team over the last five games.
Sophomore guard Grace Peng (San Ramon, Calif. / California) chipped in with nine points, four rebounds and three assists, and sophomore forward Alexa Lauinger (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon) scored eight points to go along with four rebounds and two steals.
