Women's Soccer Limits Chances at La Verne

LA VERNE, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2019) – The Caltech women's soccer team held the University of La Verne to just five shots on goal in Wednesday's SCIAC road game.

The Beavers kept the Leopards off the board for the first 32 minutes of the game, biding their time to create a quality chance. Sophomore forward Zoe Rock (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) had Caltech's lone shot attempt 25 minutes in with the ball sailing just wide of the net. From there, the Leopards went on to crack the Beavers' defensive shell, though Caltech did hold the home team off the board for the game's final 37 minutes as well. Freshman goalkeeper Valerie Hetherington (Bozeman, Mon. / Deerfield Academy) played the entire game and made two stops, one in each half.

Head Coach Ellery Gould and the Beavers will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host the University of Redlands at 11 a.m.
