CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2019) – The Caltech women's soccer team tested itself on the road against one of the SCIAC's top teams in Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers fired off two shots on goal, both of which came in the second half, courtesy of junior Krystin Brown (Lake Forest, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) and sophomore Zoe Rock (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley). Both of Caltech's freshman goalkeepers saw action, with Valerie Hetherington (Bozeman, Mon. / Deerfield Academy) picking up 13 saves against a relentless attack from the first-place Sagehens while Eve Fine (Locust Valley, N.Y. / Friends Academy) relieved her and made two stops over the game's final 28 minutes. Pomona-Pitzer's superior depth and experience allowed them to get off to a fast start at home, one the Beavers were ultimately unable to recover from.
Head Coach Ellery Gould and the Beavers will be back at home on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 4 p.m.
