Kaczmarek Leads Women's Swim/Dive on Day One of SCIAC Championships

WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2015) – The Caltech women's swimming and diving team sits just one point behind host Cal Lutheran University on 29 points after Day One of the SCIAC Championships on Thursday night.

Results

Sophomore Zofii Kaczmarek (New York, N.Y. / Stuyvesant) began the meet on the 1-meter diving board, moving up four places from her qualifying score to finish 14th, netting the Beavers five points.  The second-year diver totaled 328.25 points, blowing past her rookie year total of 265.75 and coming just 3.60 points shy of 12th place.

Junior Grace Lee (Artesia, Calif. /Gretchen Whitney), senior Shalini Majumdar (Orinda, Calif. / Miramar), junior Alexandra Ilic (Austin, Texas / Westlake) and sophomore Kate Evans (Suwanee, Ga. / Lambert) formed the Medley Relay team for the Beavers' only event of the opening night.  Lee led off with a 37.90 backstroke leg, followed by Majumdar's 39.18 breaststroke and a 33.64 butterfly split from Ilic as Evans brought it home in 42.21 to post a 2:32.93.

Day Two prelims begin at 9:00 a.m., with finals set for 5:30 p.m.
