PASADENA (Jan. 19, 2019) – Graduate student Danica Adams (Novato, Calif. / UC Berkeley) recorded four wins as the Caltech women's swimming & diving team posted victories over both Whittier College (158-95) and Mills College (201-55) on Saturday.
Adams led off the 200 Medley Relay team that notched the first of 12 event victories on the day for the Beavers. She went on to win the 100 Back, 200 Back and 500 Free, all with times that rank among the top three in-season swims in program history.
Sophomore Jessica Sun (York, Pa. / Red Lion Area Senior) also won a trio of events, coming within half a second of her own program record in the 100 Breast before claiming the 200 Breast and 400 IM. Seniors Brittany Percin (Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Stanford Online) and Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) contributed a pair of victories apiece as well, while freshman Olivia Grobowsky (Houston, Texas / Westside) swam the second-fastest mile time in program history in a thrilling head-to-head race where she only finally separated with 100 yards to go. She also recorded a six-second personal best time in the 400 IM near the conclusion of the meet. Takahashi's 100 Free time of 55.58 was a personal best and the fourth-fastest in program history.
Head Coach Andy Brabson and the Beavers will enjoy a week off from competition before heading to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday, Feb. 2 with less than a month remaining before SCIAC Championships.
