PASADENA (Nov. 23, 2019) – Graduate student Danica Adams (Novato, Calif. / UC Berkeley) and sophomore Isabel Swafford (Boise, Id. / Boise) swam to a first and second-place finish in the 200 Back for the Caltech swimming & diving team at Saturday's Caltech Invite.
Adams, the current program record holder in the event has traded backstroke records with Swafford in the past but came out on the winning end this weekend with a season-best 2:04.67 in the event. Swafford, meanwhile also notched a season-best 2:05.70, and as the runner-up still finished four seconds faster than the third-place finisher. Swimmers from Occidental College, California Lutheran University and the University of Redlands made up the rest of the event. Adams also lowered her season-best time in the 100 Free to 54:68 and took second place in the mile (18:07.73). Swafford, meanwhile came six-tenths of a second away from claiming victory in the 50 Free (24.90) and took second in the 200 Free with a season-best 1:58.99.
Head Coach Andy Brabson and the Beavers will continue their training throughout the remainder of the year before resuming SCIAC competition on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Redlands.
