PASADENA (Mar. 27, 2018) – The 40th-ranked Caltech women's tennis team won its second match in a row when the Beavers took down visiting George Fox University, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Angelica Zhou (Temple City, Calif. / Arcadia), who returned to the lineup for the Beavers' road trip through Texas, came out victorious at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Ankita Roychoudhury (Madison, Conn. / Daniel Hand) picked up perhaps Caltech's most dominant win of the day when she defeated her opponent at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro), freshman Sarina Liu (Rolling Hills, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) and junior Julia Reisler (Plano, Texas / Greenhill) all earned singles victories while adding a 6-0 set to their respective resumes while junior Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) endured a competitive match at first singles which she ended up taking 6-2, 6-3.
Caltech started the day out as strong as it could have, picking up three quick wins at first through third doubles while dropping just four total games in the process. Tuesday marked the first time since Feb. 16 that the women's team won all three of its doubles matches.
Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will be back at home tomorrow when they host Pacific Lutheran University at 10 a.m.
