Women's Water Polo Team, Five Individuals Named All-Academic

PASADENA, Calif. (June 22, 2016) – The Caltech women's water polo team has been recognized as All-Academic, with five scholar-athletes also earning individual distinction, by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.

The Beavers compiled a 3.28 GPA as a team to rank among the Top-20 in the nation.  Sophomore Devi Ganapathi (La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) led the individual list with the Outstanding distinction – the highest honor bestowed by the ACWPC.  Seniors Alexandra Ilic (Austin, Texas / Westlake) and Soumya Kannan (Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry M Gunn) and junior Sasha Zemsky (Mount Kisco, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) were recognized with Superior honors and sophomore Ciara Ordner (Niceville, Fla. / Niceville) earned Excellent recognition.

The ACWPC recognizes teams which record a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale and individuals with a 3.20 or higher GPA, with varying levels of distinction.
