PASADENA (July 6, 2018) – Seven Caltech women's water polo players qualified for the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic list, led by departing senior and co-Scholar Athlete of the Year Devi Ganapathi (La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley).
Ganapathi - a co-women's recipient of Caltech's 2017-18 Scholar Athlete Award - earned an "outstanding" rating for her program-best GPA, falling between a 4.0 and 3.71 on a 4.0-scale. Sophomore teammate Samantha D'Costa (San Jose, Calif. / St. Francis) earned a "superior" rating for her efforts, signifying a GPA between 3.70 and 3.41. Five more Beavers earned the "excellent" rating for any GPA above a 3.20, including juniors Katie Johnston (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore), Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) and Hana Keller (Sammamish, Wash. / Tesla STEM) and sophomores Mackenzie Wooten (Las Vegas, Nev. / Northwest Career and Technical Academy) and Sarah Kreider (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest). Caltech finished the year with a team GPA of 3.32, fourth among SCIAC teams.
