PASADENA (Apr. 6, 2019) – The Caltech women's water polo team's senior members scored a couple of highlight reel goals and put six total tallies on visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday morning.
Seniors Katie Johnston (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) and Brittany Percin (Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Stanford Online) scored the Beavers' most memorable goals of the game. Johnston scored the first of such goals when she made an effort play in front of the CMS net, beating the goalie to a loose ball and converting on a quick strike for Caltech's fourth goal of the game. Percin would score in a similar fashion on the Beavers' final tally of the game. On this occasion, the senior stole the ball from the Athenas' netminder on an equally superb effort for her second consecutive goal. The prior goal came on a pass from classmate Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland), who scored a goal of her own on a Percin pass earlier in the game.
Percin finished the game with a team-best three goals and one assist. Meanwhile, freshman goalkeeper Zoe Rock (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) had some big moments of her own in the Caltech net, stoning the Athenas on a clear breakaway attempt in the second quarter for one of her seven saves.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will take to the pool again on Wednesday, Apr. 10 when they travel to the University of La Verne at 4 p.m.
