CLAREMONT, CA -- In their final event before SCIAC only meets, the Caltech cross country team took part in the fourth annual Pomona-Pitzer cross country invitational.
In the men's race Aditya Bhagavathi took top honors for Caltech for the third straight race as the first-year runner cross the finish line in 27:40. Ian Koss was the second Beaver harrier to complete the 8K course as he clipped the tape in 28:14. Juan Adame continued his steady efforts for head coach Scott Jung by finishing in 28:44. Both Koss and Adame set personal best 8K times on Saturday.
Andy Zucker (28:54) and Elliot Simon (29:07) rounded out the top five Caltech harriers. It is the second straight race that the Beavers top five runners remained the same. In addition, the Beavers topped SCIAC foe Chapman in the team standings.
On the women's side, Stephanie Reynolds cross the finish line in 24:25 in taking top honors for Caltech for the second time in 2012. In addition her time represented a personal best for the sophomore by 20 seconds which is also the third best 6K time in school history. She was ahead of Juliette Becker's time of 25:09 who finished second among Beaver harriers.
Marlyn Moore continued her consistent effort as she finished the 6K race in 26:40 in finishing third among Caltech runners. Trisha Guchait ran the course in 28:01 to finish in the Caltech top five for the second consecutive race. Alice Michel scored points for Caltech for the first time by finishing fifth among Beaver runners. The first-year ran the race in 28:26.
Similarly to the men's team, the women also bested Chapman in the team competition.
The harriers take a 13-day break from competition before returning on Oct. 12 at the SCIAC multi-duals.
