CHINO, CA – At the SCIAC Championships on Saturday morning the Beavers put together season best time and solid efforts.
Leading way the Beavers in the women's race was Stephanie Reynolds. In her third race at this course, the junior ran Prado Park in 25:06 which was a personal best for her on that route. She finished 28th overall in 118 person field.
A pair of seniors were the second and third best finishers for Caltech. Juliette Becker ran the 6K loop in 26:54 while Marlyn Moore was just three seconds behind her. Moore's time of 26:57 was a personal best time for her during the league's championships race.
Parul Pubbi crossed the finish line in 27:24 to finish fourth among Caltech harriers while senior Katja Luxem ran the course in 27:34 in her final attempt at the course.
As a team the Beavers knocked off La Verne to finish eighth.
During the men's race the Beavers were paced by Aditya Bhagavathi. The sophomore completed the course in 27:44. He has been Caltech's best finisher in every race this season.
Michael Ignatowich ran his best race in a Beaver uniform as he finished as the second scoring runner for Caltech. He ran a season best time of 27:47 over the 8K course. In addition to his efforts on the course, he was honored with the SCIAC coaches Ray Adkinson Award for sportsmanship.
Finishing third for the Beavers was Alex Pien as he crossed the finish line in 27:58. Ian Koss was just behind him with a time of 28:07. Jared Forte rounded out the scoring runners for the Beavers with a time of 28:21.
Caltech's effort was good enough to knock off Redlands and Cal Lutheran.
A handful of the runners will move on to the NCAA Western Regional championships in two weeks at Pomona-Pitzer.
