August Chen comes to Caltech from the same school as women's distance runner Krystal Brodsky. An already accomplished distance group will provide an optimal environment for Chen to continue his development in Pasadena.
"August is eager to prove himself and we look forward to watching him progress," Head Coach Ben Raphelson said.
Skillman, N.J. / Montgomery
Shrikeshav Desmukh will add immediate depth to the track & field team's sprint and hurdles group. He brings with him a career-best 57.39 in the 400m hurdles and a 15.10 in the 110m hurdles, both of which could have him knocking on the door of the top-10 list before long.
"Shri is an accomplished hurdler with unique experience at the 400m hurdle distance in high school," Raphelson said. "We're excited for him to contribute right away and to join our growing sprints/hurdle group."
Seattle, Wash. / King's
Seattle native Peter Kulits is the most exciting jumps prospect to come to Caltech in many years. His career-best triple jump (46'9.25) earned him the Washington State Championship and would send him straight to the top of the Caltech record books when he competes for the first time next spring.
"Peter is an extremely accomplished horizontal jumper," Raphelson said. "He exudes passion for Caltech and we can't wait for him to put on a uniform for the first time."
Dublin, Calif. / Dublin
Gaurav Phanse's top 5k time at Dublin High School (15:20) bodes well for his ability to translate his high school success to the collegiate 8k distance. He also brings with him an accomplished resume on the track (4:17 1600m, 9:19 3200m).
"Gaurav is one of the more versatile, talented distance runners to ever come to Caltech," Raphelson said. "With patience and hard work, we're confident that he can develop into high-level collegiate athlete."
Fairmont, Minn. / Fairmont
Kellen Rodriguez brings with him just two years of competitive track experience but possesses the intangibles to develop into a contributing member of a talented Caltech distance group.
"Kellen has shown considerable potential despite only running seriously for a few years," Raphelson said. "He has already shown a tremendous work capacity that we're confident will translate well to the collegiate level."
Chicago, Ill. / Payton
Jerome Seebeck, a former hockey player from Chicago, has seen his athleticism translate well to track & field. The former Illinois state qualifier has managed a 39.72 in the 300m hurdles, and his 110m hurdles (15.66) and 200m (22.72) dash times could make him an impact player next spring, especially if he continues to improve.
"Jerome has a multi-sport background and is still relatively new to track & field, but in that time he's shown tremendous potential," Raphelson said. "We're eager for him to continue his development at Caltech."
Alex Bardon (Boston, Mass. / The Winsor School)
Natali Lelieur (South Pasadena, Calif. / South Pasadena)
Jamie Littman (Port Washington, N.Y. / Paul D. Schreiber)
Antonia Liu (Hackensack, N.J. / Bergen County Tech)
Ayooluwa Odemuyiwa (Auburn, Ala. / Auburn)

Alex Bardon ran an 11:10 3k time at The Winsor School, a split that should allow her to file in nicely with an already talented women's distance troop.
"Alex is an accomplished distance runner whose work ethic and temperament make her an exciting addition to our program," Raphelson said.
South Pasadena, Calif. / South Pasadena
Natali Lelieur will attend college just three miles north of her native high school in South Pasadena. Lelieur will provide Raphelson with another distance runner to develop for both cross country and track.
"Natali is still coming into her own as a distance runner," Raphelson said. "We look forward to watching her continue to improve in a Caltech uniform."
Port Washington, N.Y. / Paul D. Schreiber
Jamie Littman got a taste of several different track events at Paul D. Schreiber, including sprints, hurdles and the steeplechase. Littman will zero in on distance events at Caltech.
"Jamie contested a wide range of events in high school but is eager to focus on the distance events in college," Raphelson said. "With that focus we're confident we'll see significant improvements."
Hackensack, N.J. / Bergen County Tech
Antonia Liu will join a rapidly improving throwing group. Liu's career-best discus throw of 106' could provide an immediate boost while she rounds out her skills in the other throwing events.
"We're thrilled to add a thrower of Antonia's caliber to our growing throws group," Raphelson said. "She's demonstrated success at the discus and we're confident she'll adapt well to college throwing and new events like the hammer throw."
Auburn, Ala. / Auburn
A talented athlete out of Auburn, Ala., Ayooluwa Odemuyiwa has the potential to add needed depth to Caltech's sprinting and jumping group.
"Ayooluwa is a versatile athlete eager to continue her development in the speed-power events," Raphelson said.
