Men's XC to Begin 2019 Eighth in Region

NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 27, 2019)   The Caltech men's cross country team will begin the season ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III West region according to preseason rankings courtesy of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The ranking reflects the Beavers' place of finish at last year's NCAA West Regional Championships, which improved upon the previous year's regional result and marked the team's best regional finish since 1997. The Beavers are also ranked fifth among SCIAC teams, coming in behind Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Occidental College and the University of Redlands in that order after finishing 2018 in the same position for the team's highest place of finish in the conference since SCIAC expansion.

Head Coach Ben Raphelson and the Beavers will kick off the season this weekend at the 6K Redlands Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8:45 a.m.
