Hello everyone! Meet Mariam! One of our awesome group fitness instructors. Get to know Mariam a little better as she talks about her interests and experience. Join her for one of her classes Monday Pilates Barre Fusion 6:30am, Tuesday Cardio Dance at 6pm , Thursday Pilates Barre Fusion 6pm and Cardio Dance Friday 6pm.
1. How long have you taught fitness/yoga?
I have been teaching fitness/yoga since January 2002 ( Going on 21 years!)
2. How long have you taught for Caltech?
I am teaching my first classes at Caltech this fall!
3. What formats do you teach?
I teach Barre, Pilates, Cardio Dance, Zumba, Bellydance, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, HIIT, and everything under the sun EXCEPT for aqua workouts and spin. I even taught Step Zumba back in the day and do personal training here at Caltech.
4. What is your favorite format?
That is tough because each format attracts different individuals, and I love connecting with people in all movement styles. I truly love teaching dance, as it brings out so much joy in people. Nothing is more lovely than seeing someone comfortable in their own skin, enjoying their bodies, and connecting with music.
5. What is your favorite thing about Caltech?
The people! Caltech has one of the best communities that I ever taught for. I truly enjoy every interaction and every person I meet.
6. What would you like your participants to know about you?
I LOVE what I do; it is more than just a job for me. It truly is my heart and soul. THANK YOU for choosing to spend an hour of your day with me and trusting me to guide you through movement. 7. If you have a degree, what is it?
I have my bachelor's degree in Political Science from UC Irvine ( with a minor in Sociology) and an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix.
