Caltech Sports Medicine

The Caltech Sports Medicine team is comprised of 3 Certified Athletic Trainers, a team physician, and various community resources. Our athletic trainers are responsible for the day-to-day prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This also includes coordination of physician referrals, determination of participation status, and the wellness counseling and education of student-athletes. Additionally, the Sports Medicine Staff coordinates the health care of student-athletes relating to general medical illnesses and conditions as they may affect athletic participation and may involve referrals to the Health Center, Counseling Center, or other community health care providers.

Athletic trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals specifically trained in the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of medical conditions, and emergent, acute and chronic injuries. ATs make sure that athletes are physically and mentally ready to participate in their sport. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association and Department of Health and Human Services as an allied health care profession.

For more information about Sports Medicine services, student-athlete medical clearance, or scheduling an appointment with one of the athletic trainers, please visit the Caltech Sports Medicine page.
