Prior to Caltech
Member of the cross country and winter track teams for all four years whil running spring track and playing soccer for two years each...His team finished in 8th place at the Virginia AAA state meet.

His best athletic achievement was finishing 27th in a half marathon with a time of 1:20:50...Played for the Lee Mount Vernon Soccer Club...Ruddock House Athletic Manager...His best research project was sticking metallic beadds in caster oil with 25 KV and modeling the results...Eagle Scout...Son of Brenda and Jay...Has a brother, Alex, who attends Virginia Tech
