Nick Harvey joined the Caltech Sports Medicine staff in July 2021 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Originally from San Diego, Nick attended Chapman University, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training in 2008. He then attended California State University, Chico working toward a Masters of Arts in Kinesiology and starting his certified athletic training journey as a Graduate Assistant at Chico State.
After graduating from Chico, Nick accepted a position in the Fontana Unified School District working with AB Miller High School in 2010. Nick worked as AB Miller's Athletic Trainer for 4 years, before moving to fellow SCIAC institution, the University of Redlands, in 2014. While at the U of R, Nick served as the primary AT with the Bulldog football, swim, and softball teams. He participated in cross-campus collaboration by volunteering his time on the Strategic Planning Committee and teaching CPR and Stop the Bleed courses to various campus teams.Â
In 2021, Nick moved to Caltech as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, where he continues to utilize his skills, knowledge, and Jeopardy facts to help level up the Beavers.Â
Nick is a professional member of NATA, FWATA, and CATA. Throughout his career, Nick has been an active member of the California Athletic Trainers' Association Managing Board and currently serves as Governmental Affairs Committee Chair. As the GAC Chair, Nick's work helps advance the CATA's legislative efforts, including encouraging the safety of youth athletes through licensing athletic trainers. He has been awarded an Appreciation Award by the CATA for his work as Political Action Chair (2016-2020), as well as CATA and NATA Lifesaver Awards for providing life-saving CPR in 2020.
Nick resides in Pasadena, CA with his wife, Heather, and their two cats, Han Solo and Chewbacca (Chewie).Â
