PASADENA, Calif. – The Occidental offense was clicking all
night as they tallied a .395 team hitting percentage in knocking
off Caltech 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-13) Saturday evening at Braun
Athletic Center in SCIAC volleyball action.
Leading the way for the Tigers (12-2, 5-1 SCIAC) was Logan
Boyer-Hayse who recorded a match high 18 kills and a .552 hitting
percentage. Stephanie Gann notched nine kills en route to a .368
hitting effort along the front line for the visitors.
Occidental rushed out to a 10-1 lead in the opening game and
never looked back in taking a 1-0 lead in the match. With the
Tigers holding a 11-9 lead in the second game, Occidental proceeded
to go a 9-3 scoring spurt as they took a 2-0 edge in the match. In
the final game, Caltech hung tight but with the Tigers ahead 9-8
the visitors put the match away by winning 11 of the game's next 13
points.
Caltech's (1-10, 0-6 SCIAC) offense was led by freshman Paige Logan who
posted a team high six kills.
