Box Score Box Score v. LaVerne
Box Score v. Occidental
During the final full weekend of SCIAC women's volleyball
action, the Caltech women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-8,
25-5, 25-8) decision to La Verne on Friday night then fell to
Occidental 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon.
In the match against the Leopards, the Caltech offense couldn't
get anything clicking without the services of regular setter Megan
Jackson as they committed 30 attack errors in their 81 attack
attempts. On the other side of the net the LaVerne offense was
hitting on all cylinders as they posted a team hitting percentage
of .415.
Catie Logan and Danielle Maxwell each had a team high nine kills
in the three-game sweep.
Paige
Logan and Katie Peters were
able to tally seven and six kills respectively for the Beavers.
The Beavers offense was able to pick it up against the Tigers on
Saturday afternoon but they put themselves into an early hole they
couldn't climb out of.
In the opening game, the Tigers recorded 11 kills and hit .529
as a team while the Beavers mustered two kills and a negative
hitting percentage. Caltech was able to get onto the positive side
on offense in the final two games but Occidental rode the first
game's momentum to a three game sweep.
The Tigers offense spread the wealth around as eight different
players had at least two kills in the match.
Katie Peters had a team high six kills for the Beavers. Fellow
senior Ying Ying Tran
played well in the back row as she tallied a match high 10
digs.
