WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier
defense tallied 49 total digs and 7.5 team blocks en route to
stopping Caltech 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-12) Tuesday evening in SCIAC
women's volleyball action.
The win lifts the Poets record to 2-13 overall and 1-5 in
conference play. The Beavers fall to 1-10 and 0-6 respectively.
Leading the backline defense for Whittier was Alyssa Acosta who
recorded a match high 15 digs. Lindsey Kish also had a double-digit
dig effort with 10. Along the front line, Courtney Dickerson posted
two block solos and three block assists in addition to her match
seven kills to aid the home squad.
Whittier was helped by a strong service game as they recorded a
season high 14 service aces.
Paige Logan and Teri Juarez each had a team high five kills to
pace the Caltech offense. Ying Ying Tran registered 10 digs for the
visiting Beavers.
