PASADENA, Calif. - In Caltech's SCIAC opener in
the Braun Athletic Center on Tuesday night, the Beavers succumbed
to the Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 3-0.
C-M-S got off to a blazing start in the first game and finished
it easiliy, 25-7.
Caltech, though held its own in the second game, but couldn't
get over the hump and fell 25-21. The 21 points by the Beavers were
the most tallies in one SCIAC set in more than a year.
The Stags tooks their momentum into the third and maintained
their pace with a 25-14 victory.
Katie
Peters led the Beavers with eight kills while Paige Logan and Teri Juarez
recorded six and five, respectively. Megan Jackson
assisted on 15 points while Ying Ying Tran
(10) and Deboki
Chakravarti (9) supplied a combined 19 of the squad's 36 digs.
Peters and Juarez chipped in with seven digs a piece.
Caltech (1-5, 0-1) plays its next two matches on the road as it
travels to Redlands on September 24 and Cal Lutheran on September
25.
