Strong Shoot Effort Leads ClaremontMuddScripps Past Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. – ClaremontMuddScripps converted a SCIAC season high 60.4 percent of their shots in a 79-43 win over Caltech Saturday evening in a men's basketball conference match-up.

In nailing 32 of their 53 shots the Stags (9-6, 5-0) put up the most efficient shooting effort in a conference game this season. Furthermore, the visitors went 9-of-15 (60 percent) from behind the arc to aid in their efforts.

The opening few minutes saw five lead changes. A Mason Freedman lay-in with 13:42 left in the half gave Caltech (4-12, 0-5) their final lead of the game at 10-9. ClaremontMuddScripps was able to seize the momentum by finishing the half on a 29-8 scoring spurt. The Stags held a 38-18 lead at the halftime buzzer.

During the final half the Beavers couldn't get their deficit under 21 points as the first-place Stags continued their undefeated conference season.

Kevin Sullivan came off the bench to lead all scorers with a 24-point performance. He went 10-of-12 from the field including a perfect 4-for-4 effort from behind the arc.  Cody Mivshek also came off the bench to score in double-figures. Mivshek went 4-for-5 from the field during his 10-point evening.

Todd Cramer posted a 12-point night for the home squad. Mike Paluchniak scored nine points and dished off a team high four assists.

Freedman came off the bench to tie his season high of nine points for the Beavers.
