ORANGE, Calif. – Caltech began its conference slate at Chapman on Wednesday. The Beavers showed improvement, especially at the net, but the host team won in three sets (25-7, 25-8, 25-8).

For Chapman, it was the second win of the season after already playing eight matches previously. For the Beavers, it marked their second match in three days after opening the season on Monday in Lancaster.

Junior co-captain Catherine Jamshidi recorded 2 kills and 11 digs while Suzannah Osekowsky earned a block.

"We played much better," coach Tom Gardner said. "Cat and Amarise hit well."

Caltech is currently on a road trip to Northern California. Tonight, the Beavers face Mills College. Tomorrow, they play Pacific and UC Santa Cruz.
