PASADENA, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2015) – Senior Cat Jamshidi (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock Secondary School) extended her career kills record with another nine in a Caltech volleyball defeat to Life Pacific College on Tuesday night.
The Warriors started hot and held the edge through a 3-0 victory to improve to 8-18 overall while the Beavers fall to 2-21.
LPC jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first set and traded points with Caltech to a 25-12 final score. The Beavers led early in the second at 4-2 but the Warriors went on an 8-1 run to move in front and never looked back in a 25-16 win. Caltech battled throughout the third set, tying things up at 9-9 and hanging within three at 21-18 before LPC tallied the final four points to claim the match.
Jamshidi's nine kills came on a .125 hitting percentage as the senior also made three blocks and recorded seven digs, second only to the eight by sophomore Mayra Melendez (Salinas, Calif. / York). Freshman Subhadra Vetrivel (Redmond, Wash. / Overlake School) added three kills and a team-high four blocks.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers host their final SCIAC matchup of the year against Whittier College (17-9, 8-6) on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.
