Jamshidi Nearly Double-Doubles at Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2015) – Senior Cat Jamshidi (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock Secondary School) nearly double-doubled with team highs of nine kills and 13 digs at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Tuesday night.
The Sagehens were firing on all cylinders and claimed the 3-0 victory to improve to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the SCIAC, while the Beavers are now 0-10 (0-5).
Pomona-Pitzer scored the first three points of the first set and never surrendered the lead, although Caltech kept things tight through a 7-9 deficit.  The Sagehens posted a 9-1 run to surge ahead and held on for the 25-13 win before riding the momentum into the second set, where they led by as many as 15 before closing it out at 25-12. 
The Beavers knocked the hosts back on their heels to open the third set, jumping out to a 5-2 lead, but the Sagehens steadily regained control and would clinch the match with a 25-14 final.
Junior Kate Lewis (San Antonio, Texas / Ronald Reagan) contributed six kills on a .176 hitting percentage as the Beavers combined for 16 assists.  Senior Amarise Little (Orlando, Fla. / Freedom) and sophomore Rachel Hin Ying Ng (Millbrae, Calif.) each recorded three block assists.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers return to Pasadena to host Occidental College (2-7, 1-4) on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
