Volleyball Forces Extra Points in First Set at Redlands

PASADENA (Sept. 28, 2018) – Three players reached six kills as the Caltech volleyball team came within two points of taking the first set from the University of Redlands on the road Friday night.

The Beavers put themselves in a position for two set points, first at 25-24 then again at 26-25 after mounting a comeback from a 10-point deficit. Caltech went on a 17-7 run to eventually tie the opening set at 23 points apiece and set itself up for its first lead of the set. Freshmen Alexandra Frymire (Dallas, Texas / Greenhill), Hannah Fan (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) and junior Lauren Li (Bellaire, Texas / Bellaire) each had six kills over the course of the three-set match while Frymire led the visitors with 13 assists. Freshman middle blockers Alison Noyes (Falmouth, Maine / Falmouth) and Sydney Richardson (Granite Bay, Calif. / Roseville) also helped out down the middle with two assisted blocks apiece.

Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 to face off at home with Occidental College.
