CLAREMONT, Calif. (Jan. 26, 2022) – Caltech faced SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on the road Wednesday night and managed to double its offensive output in the second half after trailing 33-21 at the break.
After a quiet opening frame, senior Spencer Schneider (Houston, Texas / Clearbrook) led the Beavers in second-half scoring with 11 points. He filled out his well-rounded stat line with three assists, three steals and six rebounds.
The Caltech bench outscored the Stags' 18-9 thanks to a game-high 14 points by junior Kyle McGraw (Los Altos Hills, Calif. / The Nueva School), propelled by a game-high four three-point baskets while additionally grabbing a pair of rebounds and an assist.
Junior Chase Pagon (Solana Beach, Calif. / Santa Fe Christian) netted 11 points, led the Beavers with four assists, and highlighted on ball control, grabbing a team-high eight rebounds including four on offense and swiping a game-high five steals.
Rounding out the offense sheet were senior Noah Barnes (Springfield, Va. / Jefferson) with 11 points, three assists and three boards,and senior Marcus Gee (Santa Monica, Calif. / Santa Monica), who scored 10 points, blocked a shot and picked up three steals.
Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger and the Beavers return home Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip-off against the University of La Verne.
