FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Four days since their previous game and over 980 miles from Pasadena, the Caltech women's basketball team arrived at Stoller Center on the campus of Pacific University Saturday evening to face the undefeated Boxers.
The Beavers fought hard and showcased their resilience and ball control skills in the face of a tough opponent with a deep roster in their home gym. Notably, Caltech conceded fewer turnovers than Pacific in large part due to 11 steals while Pacific only claimed eight. Never giving up, the Beavers found some heat late in the fourth quarter as
Claire Perhach,
Faith Pinney and
Saumya Chauhan hit consecutive unanswered baskets and eventually outscoring the home team in the final frame.
Kathryn Edwards led the team in scoring with 14 points, swiping a couple steals and collecting five rebounds in the contest. Perhach and
Sahana Saikumar each grabbed five boards as well.
Pinney folllowed Edwards in points with 11, also claiming a pair of steals and earning an assist. Chauhan led both teams with three steals, also tallying seven points and an assist.
