THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2023) – The Caltech women's basketball team headed west on Saturday night for the first of two regular season matchups against the Cal Lutheran Regals.
The home side put forth an immense challenge, scoring early and often while Caltech struggled to find success from the field. The Beavers, forced make adjustments with their lineups and overall approaches, stuck to their plan and defended better and better as the game progressed, holding the Regals to fewer points in each subsequent quarter. In the end, Caltech outscored Cal Lutheran 36-21 in the second half, and every Beaver who entered the game scored points.
Sophomore
Kodie Vondra (Livingston, Mont. / Park) exploded with 11 points the fourth quarter, posting a game-high 18 points along with six steals. Classmate
Kathryn Edwards (Centennial, Colo. / Arapahoe) tied Vondra for the game high of six steals, tallying 10 points, nine rebounds and an assist.
Junior
Claire Perhach (Carlsbad, Calif. / Sage Creek) scored 11 points and collected seven rebounds, leading both teams with four offensive boards and two blocks.
Senior
Faith Pinney (Spokane, Wash. / Gonzaga Preparatory School) and junior
Milan Robinson (Anaheim, Calif. / Fairmont Prep) each contributed a trio of assists.
