Men's Soccer Holds Redlands Scoreless in First Half

PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech Beavers men's soccer team hosted the University of Redlands Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon, managing to keep the match deadlocked against a powerful team currently ranked second place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Caltech outshot the visitors 10-8 in the opening half, forcing three critical saves by the Bulldogs' goalkeeper in the first 16 minutes. On the other end of the pitch, Derek Ing kept the Bulldogs at bay with a pair of saves, while the Caltech back line contributed a pair of blocks while the remaining Redlands shots in the first half hit a goalpost or missed completely.

Ishaan Mantripragada led the Beaver offense with four shots, two of them on goal, while Jack Myles trailed closely with three attempts in his 49 minutes played.

Despite the loss, the Beavers remain in the middle of the SCIAC standings with a 5-3-2 (W-L-T) overall record.

Head Coach Duncan Gillis and the Beavers will hit the road Saturday to face the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags in a 7 p.m. matchup. Find live stats and video links at https://gocaltech.com/coverage.
