LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — Two men and three women earned All-SCIAC honors for their
performances at the SCIAC Championship Meet last Saturday, the conference
officially announced on Monday.
Junior
Rohun Agrawal and senior
Joey Litvin of the men's program earned First Team recognition for finishing second and tenth, respectively, in the 131-athlete race. Agrawal tackled the 8,000km (4.97mi) course in 24 minutes and 53.4 seconds while Litvin crossed the line in 25:20.0.
The two men helped lead Caltech to the program's best finish in 41 years as they nabbed third place overall. Agrawal's runner-up finish is the best individual placing since Dan Keliman won in 1996.
This is the second straight year of All-SCIAC honors for Litvin, who earned a Second Team nod for his 16th place performance in 2022.
The women landed three Beavers on the All-SCIAC list thanks to the outstanding performances of sophomore
Gigi Pistilli (16th), junior
Sophie Dalfonzo (18th) and senior
Katy Chu (20th). Pistilli traversed the 6,000km (3.73mi) course in 23 minutes and 27.5 seconds; Dalfonzo (23:36.5) and Chu (23:44.6) finished moments later.
The three Beavers led the women's team to an impressive fifth place finish, just narrowly missing out on a top-three spot in what was an incredibly close and competitive race.
Caltech was just one of two teams in the conference to put three runners in the top-20.
Pistilli and Dalfonzo pick up All-SCIAC honors for the second year in a row while Chu earns her first.
The men and women will now focus their efforts on the NCAA West Regional Meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Riverside. The men's race will begin at 8 a.m. while the women compete at 9 a.m. Stay tuned to
