RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Caltech Cross Country put forth a strong showing at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 19 as both the men's and women's sides finished in the top half of competing schools.
The Caltech men finished in seventh as a team in the 8k race led by junior Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. Wellesley). Goehringer finished in 13th place out of 256 competitors with a time of 25:15.5. Junior Aditya Pakal (The Woodlands, Texas / The John Cooper School) finished 59th in 25:58.8. He was followed closely by senior Ryan Fortin in 61st place. Fortin ran a 25:59.8. Jonah Reynolds (Sacramento, Calif. / Jesuit High School) was the top-placing first-year for the Beavers on the men's side. He finished 66th in 26:03.8.
On the women's side, Caltech placed 15th as a team out of 32 schools. First-year Lyra Stiglitz (Pittsburgh, Penn. / Mount Lebanon High School) announced her arrival to The Institute as Caltech's top finisher in the 5k race. She finished in 37th place out of 296 finishers with a time of 18:37.1. Fellow first-year Rachel Rakower (Scarsdale, N.Y. / Scarsdale High School) finished in 57th in 18:50.7.
Caltech will travel to Santa Clarita, Calif. For the Master's Invitational at The Master's University Saturday Oct. 3 at 8:00 a.m.
