LA VERNE, Calif – Caltech Women's Water Polo continued its SCIAC campaign against the La Verne Leopards Saturday morning, and junior
Emma Gurcan powered the Beavers' offense with four goals in the contest.
Gurcan put Caltech on the scoreboard just five seconds a La Verne player was excluded early in the second quarter, followed shortly by classmate
Riya Shrivastava.
Late in the third, Gurcan scored her second goal, followed by two more in the fourth quarter separated by just 36 seconds, her efforts boosting her total to 32 goals this season. First-year driver
Madelyn Gilbert then tallied the Beavers' last goal with 3:20 remaining in regulation.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Field played three of the four quarters in goal, highlighting with a huge save of a five-meter penalty shot.
"Emma had some really nice goals and her shooting has been on point as of late," Head Coach
Jon Bonafede said after the game. "Madelyn did a great job facilitating from the five wing and even scored and clutch goal from her position," he added.
The Beavers will next face Occidental College on the road next week on Wednesday, Apr. 5 at 7 p.m.
