ORANGE, Calif. — The women's water polo team faced the Chapman University Panthers on Saturday in the Beavers' final road game of the 2023 season. The team saw scores from five different players as they went up against the No. 8-ranked team in Division III.
The home team would strike first in the contest, though Caltech quickly evened the score with an impressive goal from junior driver
Tyler Fox at the 4:45 mark in the first period. The Connecticut native would score again at 3:06 to give the Beavers the 2-1 advantage.
Caltech notched another two goals later in the quarter as two more drivers got involved in the scoring. With 1:34 on the clock, first-year
Madelyn Gilbert found the back of the net for a goal; 19 seconds later, junior
Emma Gurcan added to the tally after taking advantage of a 6-on-5 advantage.

Maya Dickson would put herself on the board in the third period after putting in a nice goal of her own.
First-year center attacker
Mia Mutadich earned her 46th and 47th goals of the season in the game's final quarter, posting a goal at the 6:29 mark and another at 3:32.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sophia Slora recorded seven saves — one shy of her career high. Gurcan, senior utility
Amanda Piyapanee and center defender
Riya Shrivastava each registered two steals.
