LA VERNE, Calif. – Caltech Women's Soccer wrapped up its longest away-from-home streak of the 2023 season Saturday night, playing its third consecutive SCIAC match on the road against the University of La Verne.
Caltech threatened early as
Aurelia Kuester took the match's first shot on goal, forcing a save by the Leopard keeper. La Verne opened scoring in the 24th minute but the Beavers never let up, as
Jennifer Solgaard peppered the home side with another couple of shots to keep the defense on edge.
Senior
Kathryn Thompson contributed a shot on net in as the Beavers continued to press in the second half, and Solgaard nearly put Caltech on the board in the waning minutes.
The Caltech back line frustrated the La Verne attack, as seven of their 13 shot attempts missed the goal frame entirely while sophomore goalkeeper
Sophia Steven played the full 90 minutes and made four saves.
Head Coach
Emmy Meyring and the Beavers will finally return home on Wednesday, Sep. 27 for a 4 p.m. SCIAC match against Whittier College. Find live stats and video links at
