Hicks Scores 26 as Men's Basketball Faces Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. – Caltech Men's Basketball faced the University of Redlands in a Wednesday night SCIAC matchup at the Bulldogs' home court.

Redlands received votes in the most recent D3hoops Top 25 poll after previously holding the No. 24 spot, but still sophomore Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy) dropped a team-high 26 points against the home team, just one point below the Bulldogs' top scorer and three points behind his career high of 29. He added an assist and three rebounds without committing any personal fouls in his 39 minutes on the floor.

First-year Ryan Hu (Bellevue, Wash. / Newport), marking his seventh game in the Beavers' starting lineup, followed with 11 points including two three-pointers and a three-point play, sinking a free throw after drawing a foul on a jumper that fell in for two.

As a team, the Beavers outscored the Bulldogs in the paint by a margin of 34 points to 22, and Caltech also scored 21 points on fast breaks versus Redlands' 16.

Freshman Andrew Koclanes (Denver / Colorado Academy) led the Beavers in rebounding with six, adding seven points and a pair of assists. Classmate Matt Cantor (Bayside, N.Y. / Townsend Harris) nabbed a team-high three steals along with five points, five rebounds and three assists.

Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger will hit the road again Saturday at 2 p.m. to face No. 16 Cal Lutheran.
