LA VERNE, Calif. — The Caltech women's soccer team ended its 2024 season against the University of La Verne Saturday evening.Â
The 1-0 final is indicative of how tight the matchup
was between the Beavers and
the Leopards. Caltech finished the match with seven total shots with four of them being on net, but could not capitalize on any of them.Â
The Beavers strong defensive efforts helped keep them in the match throughout all 90 minutes. Sophomore keeper
Haliegh Gardner (San Ramon, Calif. / California) made 12Â saves of the 13 shots on goal she faced. Her impressive play was crucial for the team in the close fight with the Leopards.Â
The lone goal scored by the Leopards in the first half was enough to surpass the Beavers despite the impressive defensive effort they put forward the rest of the way.Â
Caltech finished its season at 3-12-1 and 2-10 in the conference, which matches its most victories in the SCIAC in a single season in the seven seasons since the program was created.
Head coach Emmy Meyering and the team will take some well-deserved rest before getting back to work in preparation for next year's season.Â
