REDLANDS, Calif. — Caltech Men's Basketball competed in its first SCIAC matchup of the season on Wednesday night as the Beavers faced off against the University of Redlands in a road clash.
Scoring the first four points for Caltech and finishing with a game-high 15 points was junior guard
Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy), who also picked up four rebounds. Lurking around the paint was first-year center
Stuart Florescu (Toronto, Ont. / Crescent), who
tallied up eight rebounds to lead all players; the rookie added nine points on 4-of-6 shooting and a steal.
The Beavers found themselves down at halftime but found some offense for stretches in the second half. This came at the hands of some sound play and nice performances by sophomore wing/forward
Pranit Gunjal (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter), who finished with five points, a rebound and a well-timed block.
Frst-year guard
Josh Balami (Woodbury, Minn. / Math and Science Academy) dished out three assists and corralled four rebounds in his nine minutes of action; he connected on his sole field goal attempt and drained one free throw. Sophomore guard
Stephen Lo (Fremont, Calif. / Fremont Christian) scored five points on 2-of-4 shooting, including one deep ball, to go with one rebound in 12 minutes.
Caltech stayed aggressive and competitive until the final buzzer; they will look to bounce back in their next matchup this Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4:00 p.m. as they face another conference opponent in Chapman University on the road. Follow the game online at
