Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Leo Williams Honored at Caltech Men's Basketball Senior Day

PASADENA, Calif. – Caltech Men's Basketball hosted Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon for a memorable Senior Day game in the team's penultimate home contest of the 2023-24 regular season at Braun Gymnasium.

Friends and family of graduating senior Leo Williams (Southfield, Mich. / Wylie E. Groves) were on hand to honor the Beaver guard's leadership and tenacity through his four years and three unforgettable basketball seasons. He started the game and later brought the crowd to its feet with a gorgeous second-half three-pointer.

Caltech improved in the second half against the top team in the SCIAC, and first-year Andrew Koclanes (Denver / Colorado Academy) tallied a team-high 11 points along with four rebounds, a steal and a pair of assists.

Sophomore Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy) led the Beaver starters with 10 points, followed by junior Evan Portnoi (Short Hills, N.J. / Northfield Mount Hermon). Rookie forward Matt Cantor (Bayside, N.Y. / Townsend Harris) led Caltech in ball control with six boards, two assists and two steals.

Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger and the Beavers will wrap up this regular season's home schedule Wednesday night against the University of Redlands Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
